First Impressions
As sad as it may be, what is the first impression we have of someone? Their appearance, what they look like and how they carry themselves. It would be awesome if the first thing we saw was someones personality but seldom that's the case. To me, most of the teenage generations seem to be influenced by celebrities, at least I was growing up. What designer they're wearing, what type of clothing, who did their makeup, how they did their hair, etc. The reason I chose this topic is because beauty and fashion have always been a huge part of my life. Not everyone can say that but I'm sure most females my age can agree that appearance is important to them too. Ever since I was a preteen I looked at magazines of celebrities and wanted to wear their clothes and have their hair. I would walk down the makeup isle when shopping with my mom and long for the day that she would finally let me buy my first eyeliner or mascara. Soon after I started experimenting with makeup I discovered a thing called YouTube and I'm not sure if it was a curse or a blessing. I would spend hours watching makeup tutorials and trying them out on myself. I discovered who Michelle Phan was and worshiped her. I would watch videos on how to make a skirt out of a shirt and how to knit your own scarves. For Christmas one year my parents got me a sewing machine. I decided I would teach myself how to sew using YouTube as my teacher, let's just say there was much frustration. I loved the fact that you could become whoever you wanted to be when you put on different clothes or did your hair or makeup differently. It made me a unique individual and that's what is important to me. Nobody wants to be like everyone else. So to summarize all this nonsense, the reasoning behind this blog is to inform and teach my thoughts and experiences of beauty and fashion including celebrity fashion and who inspires me, and maybe I'll learn a few things in the process throughout my research. This DOES NOT exclude males. No matter how much society thinks males "ignore" the fashion world, that is completely wrong and they need to open their eyes. Also, no matter how much guys think we don't notice what you're wearing, trust me, we notice. There isn't anything more attractive than a guy who knows how to dress himself and I'm sure many women can agree.

Stacie,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the world of fashion does not exclude men. Personally I don't want to leave the house looking like a slob. Sadly everyone is judged upon how they look so why not look your best. Good impressions can go a long way in the world we live in.
